Every year, millions of Indian students choose a college or a first job with almost no reliable information — and often after paying a consultant thousands of rupees for a list they could have built themselves. CollegeNearby exists to close that gap.
Our mission
To give every student in India free, honest, personalised guidance about what to study, where to study it, how to pay for it, where to live, and what job it leads to — in their own language, on the phone they already own.
Our story
CollegeNearby started as a spreadsheet. A small group of us kept answering the same questions for cousins, neighbours and juniors: which colleges accept this percentile, what does the hostel really cost, is this consultancy genuine, will this loan be approved.
The spreadsheet became a website, the website became an AI matching engine, and the engine became an app that now covers admissions, jobs, internships, study abroad, education loans and accommodation across the country.
The business model was decided on day one: students pay nothing. Verified institutes and employers pay for access to genuine enquiries, which keeps the student side completely free and keeps our rankings independent of any single partner.
